Quake Experience Lisbon

Quake Lisbon is an interactive museum where you can expect het unexpected. Travel back in time and experience how the city has been destroyed by an earthquake in 1755. Moreover, you will learn how you react best when it starts to tremble under your feet.

Challenge

Jora Vison has created the concept for this unique, educational exhibition. The aim was to build a museum experience which was both educational and entertaining. In an hour and a half, you will be trained by ‘Professor Luis’ about the scientific background of earthquakes and you will travel back via the ‘Time Machine’ to 1755. There you will experience what an earthquake really feels like and how the subsequent tsunami destroyed Lisbon.

Result

PWL has been given the opportunity to technically develop this museum experience from the initial concept to the final realisation. Our creative and technical team worked closely together to design the lighting plans, carry out the projector calculations and program the entire show control system. Audio and special effects were also in the scope of PWL. The entire museum is controlled via a Medialon system. The visitor flow is timed and fully automatic. In every room there is an audiovisual show taking place where AV-technologies are combined to create a unique experience for the visitors.
